Overview
The Göreme Panoramic Point sets the scene for our day with its magnificent views over Göreme Valley. Then, it's on to an ancient Underground City, excavated and populated by a myriad of civilisations throughout history, to discover how they managed to live so successfully underground for such extended periods.
Followed by Selime Monastery, which is the largest hand-hewn rock structure in all of Cappadocia. Our next stop will be lunch and a pleasant 3 km hike along the stream of the lush, green, 100mt deep gorge that is Ihlara Valley, home to pigeon houses and cave churches with some unusual frescoes. We end our day at the picturesque Pigeon Valley, with a beautiful view of Uçhisar Castle. It's possible to hike down the valley to Göreme, if you wish.
